It’s a Gnome! – Delivered by means of a book

For a while now my public identity only existed within the pages of a manuscript. One that almost nobody has seen. The occasional reader who saw early versions were quite complementary about my wisdom and personality. But I still had my privacy. My secrets hadn’t been spread all over for just about anybody to see. Nor had I yet given anything away about the closely guarded secrets of fairydom.

I see the wisdom of being out of the public eye. But as more and more people read The Binkle and the Catawampus Compass , I’m pretty sure to kiss my tranquil invisible days goodbye. I already told you why I’m taking this step–out of the shadows and into the public eye. It’s not for myself–not a bit of it. In fact the opposite–I’m very satisfied to live out my life as a private and unacknowledged gnome.

Why I’m spilling the beans

I’m only willing to go public for the binkle and the children of the world. They must find out about the most powerful energy source on the planet. One they have 100% control over. And they don’t even know it. Grown ups and leaders have been totally negligent toward young people–forcing them to learn things that don’t matter. While ignoring things that matter very much. That can’t be allowed to continue. Not if I can do something to turn things around. So here I am, spilling the beans in more ways than one.

Already, I’m starting to learn what "Series" means. It’s not one measly book, but a whole parade of them. The next one I’ve been helping with is The Binkle and the Eight Foot Pigmies –about a secret society. Who’s willing to bet that it’s existence, which was kept underground for thousands of years, stays secret? Not a chance.

Is it my fault that it’s comig out at this time. No, not entirely. Things are happening in the world. Scary things; confusing things, and unless people catch on to how to use the binkle, I don’t know if things can be pulled around.

I’m doing my part, helping to get the book out. Then jumping around like a trained monkey with all the marketing fiddle-de-de they’re expecting me to do. Then it’s up to the readers…

Publishing a book is much like having a baby

The author goes through a creative process, moving from an idea’s conception to a fleshed-out manuscript. The story becomes tangible as the scenes and characters develop. It involves ongoing writing, revising, and reconsidering,

That phase could be of almost any duration. For Catawampus that cycle took seven years! I like to think that it kept getting better during each revision, each sign that its time had not yet arrived. But then the signs shifted and it was time for it to happen.

The publishing process began. The publisher takes over from when the

Packaging the manuscript into a book involves:

Designing the cover

Setting the price

Figuring out how and where it will be sold

Typesetting the pages

And hundreds of other details

The printer and distributor then make sure that there will be a book for people to get their hands on. That it will be available in stores or over the Internet.

Lots of people must help to raise it

Lot of people have to work together for that baby/book to be born. And that’s just the start of its life.

When a mother brings a baby home from the hospital she knows her responsibilities are just beginning. Same thing with a book. Once it’s printed, people need to learn about it. That involves marketing and sales and shipping.

Readers play a part as well. If they don’t read the book, it goes nowhere. And if they like it, it helps them to tell their friends about it. The more books that get sold, the more likely the author and publisher are to continue to write and print them.

So here it is, making its first appearance.

Nobody even knows what a binkle is

It’s pretty obvious that nobody involved in the book talked to somebody who knows the first thing about marketing. Who is going to want to buy a book about something they never heard of?

Now me. I think about binkles all the time. Nothing else is as important, if you ask me. And I’m plenty glad to tell you why. That’s what this blog is about, after all.

Binkles have been around for as long as gnomes have–probably longer

We learn about them growing up. But you humans, something went wrong a long time ago. Somehow, the knowledge about the binkle got lost. For a long time now, kids have been growing up without being taught about binkle power. And if you ask me, and I guess I can say pretty much whatever I want, being as it is my blog, that explains a lot of the mess in the world these days.

I’m doubtful that human grown-ups will be able to fix the problems they have been so busy making. In my opinion, it’ll be young folks who just might be able to pull it around. If it’s gonna happen at all. That and binkle power.

I’m banking on it anyway. That’s why this whole Catawampus Compass book and blog are happening. To get the binkle message to the young ones. So there.
